Chronic daily headaches are defined as prolonged headaches lasting four hours or longer, for 15 or more days a month for more than three months in the absence of (a structural abnormality) organic pathology. Examples include chronic migraines, chronic tension-type headache, medication overuse headache, hemicrania continua, and new daily persistent headache.
Treatment may include medications to help prevent the headaches, as well as injections such as nerve blocks, trigger point injections, or Botox (onabotulinumtoxinA) if features of chronic migraines.
